Hi

We hope that you and your families are safe and well and looking forward to Christmas and the New Year.

Earlier this month we held the Clubs Annual General Meeting to discuss two matters critical to the future of Bradford Dolphins. Unfortunately, this meeting was very poorly attended, with only members of the current committee joining, so please find below details of the discussion on these points:

Volunteers

Firstly, the survival of the club is dependent wholly on volunteers stepping forward, particularly as this year will see several current volunteers stepping down from their roles. Positions that require filling are set out below and job descriptions attached, and whilst these do require some commitment over the period of a year, the work and time involved is minimal.

Full training will be provided and where possible sharing responsibilities would be considered

These positions must be filled by the end of January 2022 – if this is not possible, it is likely that Bradford Dolphins will have to fold.

Should these positions remain vacant the Club Committee will meet and decide on the future of the Club in February 2022 and if needed, arrange for an Extraordinary General Meeting inviting all members to attend.

The Club would like to reach out to anyone who's prepared to step forward and become involved. Positions that require filling are as follows:

Club Secretary - Club Secretary.pdf

To act as the main point of contact for the club. To manage the day-to-day running and administration of the club including all internal and external correspondence. To organise committee meetings and AGMs, prepare agendas, take minutes, and distribute and communicate these as appropriate

Welfare Office - Club Welfare Officer.pdf

This role is essential in providing the first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.

Championship Secretary - Club Championship Secretary.pdf

The club fixtures/competitions secretary is responsible for the development and management of the club’s competitions calendar.

Team Managers -Club Team Manager.pdf

The Team Manager ensures team cohesion at aquatic events and competitions.

Poolside Helpers - Club Poolside Helper.pdf

A poolside helper supports the delivery of club sessions under the supervision of a qualified teacher or coach.

If anyone is interested in any of the positions or would like more information you can contact a Committee Member or Coaching Team when we return to training Weds 5th January’22. Alternatively, you can contact the club on:

[email protected]

via Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BradfordDolphin

Or via our Web site - https://www.bradforddolphin.com/contact-us

Hopefully, enough volunteers will step forward to allow the Club to move forward and build on the 133 years of history the club has.

Session training fees

Secondly, there has been a review of the session training fees, and unfortunately, a combination of reduced numbers attending over an obviously very difficult couple of years, and pool costs, which have actually increased over this period, mean that we now need to increase session fees with effect from first meetings back in 2022.

Current fees are £4 and we will now be increasing these to £5 from 5th January 2022.

This action is regrettable particularly as many of us are facing our own financial challenges, but if we do not take this step, we will simply not be covering the costs of any of the current sessions, which is obviously unsustainable.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year

Bradford Dolphin Committee
