Dear Parents

Hope you are all well and looking forward to the summer.  It’s been lovely to see all the swimmers returning to the pool as the government restrictions have started to lift and start to get back to some normality with training.

As we approach the summer holidays the committee wanted to take this opportunity to give you an update on some important matters ahead of the break.

As you all know government restrictions have been lifted today with more emphasis on businesses etc doing what is appropriate for them.  We wanted to confirm that Bradford Dolphin SC will continue to operate following Sedbergh Leisure Centre guidelines as these evolve as the safety of our swimmers, coaches, and helpers is paramount.  With the lifting of restrictions, we have decided to return to our three times a week sessions when we return to swimming in September and the need to book a place will no longer be required.  The revised session timings are as follows:

  • Monday 6.30pm – 8pm (one session)
  • Wednesday 7 pm – 8.30 pm (one session)
  • Friday (Bradford Grammar School) – 7.15pm – 8.15pm

We will break up from swimming this week and plan to return from Monday 6th September

As you know Bradford Dolphin SC is a competitive swimming club and we look forward to resuming galas once these start to be arranged after the summer holidays.  As you are all aware the club is run by an ever-decreasing number of volunteers.  To maintain the fantastic work that has been done at the club over many years, we must attract some more volunteers to support the club.  There are several key positions currently vacant at the club requiring a variety of different skills.

Many of the current committee members got involved to help shape the club and keep them from being bored just spectating!!  If you do feel you can help in any way then please do get in touch with the club through SCM, Facebook, Messenger, or via one of the coaching team or committee members.

We have some important roles to fill such as Secretary & Welfare Officer but there are also other opportunities if you are interested.

We must continue to gain support to manage the club now and grow in the future.

We love to encourage our swimmers to progress into supporting the club as they grow older so if any of your children are interested in assisting on poolside, or once they are 16 coaching and lifeguarding courses are available which the club will contribute towards.

We will also be looking to recruit some additional team managers once we return to galas so if that’s something parents are interested in then please let us know.

Finally, we’d like to thank all of our coaches and helpers for their fantastic support which has allowed our swimmers to return to swimming safely.  Thanks also to our swimmers and parents supporting the club through these difficult times.

We hope you all have a lovely summer and look forward to welcoming you all back in September.

Kind Regards

Bradford Dolphin SC
